Combining the focused and directional sound pickup of the VXR3030 with adjustable audio settings and real-time headphone monitoring, the Movo Photo VXR3031 camera-mount shotgun microphone offers run-and-gun shooters, vloggers, and mobile journalists a flexible and budget-friendly upgrade from their camera’s built-in mic. Two AA batteries provide up to 120 hours of runtime and a power switch lets you turn off the mic to conserve battery life.

The adjustable gain slider lets you lower or raise the mic level feeding your recording device to ensure distortion-free signal. Use the selectable high-pass filter to reduce problematic low-frequency buildup such as ambient rumble. The attached cable features a 3.5mm TRS male plug for hookup to your camera or audio recorder. A dedicated 3.5mm headphone port is provided for convenient real-time monitoring of your audio.

The compact and lightweight VXR3031 incorporates an integrated shockmount that mounts directly to your camera or tripod and reduces noise from vibrations and camera handling. Foam and furry windscreens are included for reduction of wind noise during indoor or outdoor shoots.

Directional Sound Pickup

The built-in microphones on cameras are typically omnidirectional, so they pick up sound from all directions. The VXR3031 relies on a supercardioid polar pattern to deliver directional characteristics that allow it to focus on sound in front of it while attenuating sound from the sides and rear, yielding recordings with less background noise.

Camera-Friendly Connectivity

A coiled 3.5mm cable is permanently attached to the mic so you never have to worry about losing the cord. The cable’s right-angle 3.5mm TRS plug ensures compatibility with the standard 3.5mm mic input on your camera or portable recorder.

Real-Time Monitoring

The VXR3031 features a dedicated 3.5mm output port for convenient real-time monitoring of your audio. Just connect a pair of headphones and listen to your signal to make sure it is clean and clear.

Adjustable Audio Settings

Two switches on the rear of the VXR3031 enable simple control of your audio settings. The 3-stage level slider offers -10, 0, and +20 dB positions for straightforward optimization of the signal gain. Use the -10 dB setting to prevent distortion when miking loud sounds or flip to the +20 dB setting to avoid having to boost the preamp on your camera. The 0 dB position is preferred when routing to a high-quality external preamp.

The second switch offers a high-pass filter at 80 Hz. Activate it to attenuate rumble and low-frequency buildup for a clearer sound.

Long Battery Life

Two AA batteries (available separately) will power the VXR3031 for up to 120 hours. Use the power switch to conserve battery life when the mic is not in use. The dedicated power LED lets you know if the VXR3031 is On or Off.

Integrated Shockmount Reduces Handling Noise

The VXR3031 features an integrated four-point suspension mount for simple, efficient setup, and reduced noise from vibrations and camera handling. The bottom of the shockmount features a camera shoe mount with a 1/4″ thread, ensuring proper attachment to your camera or a tripod.

Foam and Furry Windscreens Minimize Wind Noise

Use the included foam windscreen when working indoors to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners by up to 8 dB. For up to 40 dB of wind noise with minimal high-frequency loss, switch to the supplied furry windscreen, which is ideal for outdoor shoots.

Connectivity Options

Expand the microphone’s device compatibility with Movo Photo accessories such as the MC3 and F-XLR (both available separately). The MC3 is a short cable that lets you connect the VXR3031 directly to a smartphone or tablet equipped with a 3.5mm TRRS jack. The F-XLR adapter is ideal when you need to plug the VXR3031 into a camcorder or mixer that has XLR inputs.
